My thoughts- hoooraaaayyyyyyyy

Well, what an experience...

I started well, but then work got the better of me and I had a huge gap in doing any '23 things' until literally last night when I blitzed it...

I have thoroughly enjoyed doing this, i have learnt more than ever imagined I would- and I am still surprised at all the Web 2.0 stuff out there that I had no idea about before... (I just hope I can remember all of my log ins and passwords :)_)

I know that i will definitely be using some (quite a few) of these tools in both work to try and make life a bit easier, but also home life- just for fun, such as Flick r and Picnik...

One thing I had heard of was Pod casting, but I had no idea that you could subscribe to them so that you never miss an episode or installment- great, you also get alerts to say that there is now something new to listen too! I used to stumble across these things by luck

Twitter was fun for about a day... I found lots of people that I knew (but I couldn't find them through Twitter), I sent out a message on Face Book telling every one my user name and that they could go find me!! But it got a bit over whelming... I can kind of see how some people get hooked... and I am sure every now and again, I might log in and see what is going on

One problem i thought i was going to have, was the fact I had to do this in my own time... I soon started doing bits and bobs just when the football was on in our house and it actually made 'football nights' a bit more bearable!! What will I do now...

One big thing I guess is that a few months ago, if someone had asked me about Web 2.0 technologies, I would have guessed at Facebook and Twitter- but wouldn't have had a clue about all the others (which I am sure are not all that is out there!).

I have also got quite into blogging. I am not sure about people who just keep a blog about... 'their life', but certainly in this situation- it has been great having other blogs to read as we all share the same experiences. I have also got better at blogging, and even though there might be no one out there reading this- i seem to be happy now just merrily chatting away to nothing!

My favourite bit has been Picnik... I loved that bit and wish we could have hung around with that area for a while longer. I will (when time allows) have a look at the other editing sites suggested- pixer and fotoflexer... I do hope though- that the blogs and the 'things' stay on line for some time, as it would be good to spend more time on a few other things, and generally just going back at getting the opportunity to relive some applications- and also to catch up on a few more blogs.

My worst experience has been with Delicious- I am still not entirely sure what all of the hype is about- but I think I got there in the end...

Thanks you so much 23 things team... I have enjoyed every minute!!

Is this really the end :(

Argghhhh, not the dreaded Delicious again!! Well I suppose this is my opportunity to give it a second chance.

I have just added 'Mydel.icio.us' and couldnt believe how quickly it actually linked into my account just by me typing in my user name... in fact it was instant!

I am bit more comfortable with Delicious now that I can see it from iGoogle as it was getting to the point where there was so much useful information, but too many places to go to get it!! It is good when you can keep up to date with things going on, but try to aim to look in as few a places as possible!

Looked at the Editors pick and selected the 'to do'... wow- iGoogle is now going to organise my life, keep me updated on any changes... will it soon do my job for me!

Take a look...

Flickr Photostream

Some how I managed to get ahead of myself with this one, as I have had the Flickr photostream on my blog all along!!

I must have got gadgetted away with myself one day...

As I have already achieved 'thing 21' I will put a pretty picture on my blog for you all to look at instead...

Cake

Heres the cake... I thought I would share it with my followers... hang on, no one is following me. Is there anybody out there !!

Think free

Well I had never heard of Think Free but think that I will be using this in the future. I created a new document which seemed easy enough, and then I downloaded an existing document which is now there.

It did seem very slow as I did this 'thing' at work and dont think it like the Internet Explorer (or something!)

I have now also created a new letter- please see... I have sent to my blog but not yet found out where it has gone or why the picture has dissappeared!! I will return and seek out more info

For future use, I think it will be a useful application to remember exists. I will shortly being doing some short presentations in lots of different locations- so if I put my presentation onto Think Free it will save any hassle of carrying (or more likely forgetting), my memory stick etc

Google Docs

Have never heard of Google Docs, and was not sure of its uses, but having just emailed the start of a questionnaire to the 23 things organisers so quickly- I am starting to realise the potential.

As I work in HR, it is always useful to hear what people think, and i think that Google Docs would be an easy and quick way to gather information from a large source and variety of people...

I was also keen to see what else Google Docs can do- I liked the formatting of the questionnaire... I had a nice picnic background by the end!!

It was also good to be able to create a slide show... and even more useful to be able to then save this in to Power Point.

Another 'thing' learnt that will definitely be put into practice in the work/ play environment...

Wikipedia

Wikipedia, love it.

I use it just out of interest sometimes, to wiki a place. I recently looked on wikipedia for a place where we were going to stay for a weekend to identify how many pubs/bars/restaurant's there were!! I have also used it to look up a film that had been on one evening, but I had dropped off and missed the end... it gave me a really good overview of the plot!

I didn't realise though until now that you could edit pages!! kool

At least now, instead of shouting at the screen when you see something spelt wrong, or if there is info missed etc- I can contribute to what must be the biggest encyclopedia in the world...

I had also never noticed discussions before- and this is something that I think I might take more notice off when I pop into Wikipedia to look something up... just to see what other peoples perspective is!
